Krista Holtzmann is licensed and has practiced law in four states including Colorado, Iowa, Missouri and Illinois. Her educational background includes attaining a B.S. cum laude in Child Development in 1991. As an undergraduate, Krista was one of only 20 students at the University of Missouri to receive the honor of Mortar Board in recognition of high scholarship, leadership and service. Subsequently, she obtained her Juris Doctorate at the University of Missouri – School of Law in 1994, where she was on the Dean’s List and participated in the Trial Practice and Domestic Violence Clinic. Over the years she has enjoyed combining her knowledge of the law and child development to be an effective and helpful advocate for children and families.

While working as an Assistant State’s Attorney in both Iowa City, IA and Edwardsville, IL she successfully prosecuted hundreds of child protection and juvenile delinquency cases. Krista also spent time prosecuting appellate cases while at the Missouri Attorney General’s Office. Most recently she has donated hundreds of hours representing children and families on behalf of the Rocky Mountain Children’s Law Center, Denver, CO. These cases ranged from domestic violence to adoption to guardianship.

Additionally, she has held various child advocacy positions including serving as Director of Operations for the Iowa Child Protective Training Academy, Coordinator of the Madison County Illinois Child Abuse Task Force and serving on the Illinois Child Death Review Board.

Krista and her husband Dave moved to Colorado 10 years ago and are enjoying raising their two sons in beautiful Colorado. Krista has actively become a member of her local community by volunteering at her children’s schools, both in the classroom, and as chairperson of various advisory committees. She also enjoys serving as the Social Event Coordinator of her children’s neighborhood swim team. Spending time with her family, reading, swimming and hiking are a few of her pastimes.

As a member of the Colorado Bar Association, and the Family Law Section, Krista is looking forward to continuing her work representing clients seeking to utilize mediation and/or the legal process to help resolve issues that affect their individual and family lives. Krista is passionate about using her skills and knowledge to successfully advocate for her clients.
