Terri Waymire Dunn specializes in divorce, child custody, paternity, stepparent adoptions, bankruptcy and estate planning. She is licensed to practice law in Colorado District Courts and in the Federal Bankruptcy Court. She is an active member of the Colorado Bar Association, including the Family Law Section, the Estate Planning Section, and the Bankruptcy Section. She is also a member of the Denver Bar Association and the Arapahoe County Bar Association.

In her domestic relations practice, Terri works to resolve cases amicably for the long-term financial and emotional benefit of her clients. However, Terri will not hesitate to litigate whenever necessary to protect the rights of her clients. In determining parental responsibilities, including parenting time and decision making (custody), Terri likes to focus on what is in the best interests of the children. With regard to domestic support issues Terri takes a nuanced approach, considering tax issues as well as other factors impacting awards of maintenance (alimony) and child support. Finally, Terri has a thorough understanding of the financial impact of divorce and can help her clients negotiate the best possible division of assets so they can move on to the next stage in their lives.

Terri also represents debtors in Federal Bankruptcy Court. By focusing on the evaluation and preparation of each client’s petition, Terri ensures that the review process is smooth and her clients obtain the best results possible. Terri is also familiar with all stages of an individual or a family debt crisis and can provide advice regarding collection activity, foreclosure or repossession, qualifying for a bankruptcy (passing the Means Test), and finding proper credit recovery methods after a bankruptcy has been filed.

In providing comprehensive legal services to her clients, Terri specializes in a range of estate planning matters, including simple will and trust planning, estate tax planning, estate administration, guardianships, and prenuptial agreements. Terri assists families and individuals with traditional will and trust planning and estate and trust administration. Thorough and accurate procedure is followed to assure an unchallengeable result.

Terri is a Colorado native. She attended George Washington High School, graduated from Vassar College in 2002, and received her J.D. from the University of Colorado School of Law in 2005. She joined The Law Firm of Dennis A. Lacerte shortly thereafter. Terri is proficient in Spanish and has lived in Chile, Spain and New Zealand. She enjoys skiing, biking and hiking. Terri also volunteers with Colorado Youth at Risk, where she currently mentors a student from Montbello High School.
